Twin-Shaft Stirring Cooler

The Twin-Shaft Stirring Cooler is a critical component in foundry sand reclamation systems, designed to rapidly cool hot reclaimed sand (80–200°C) down to ≤50°C, while simultaneously homogenizing moisture content for consistent sand performance in downstream mixing processes. Featuring a dual counter-rotating shafts with multi-row paddle blades, combined with atomized water injection and forced-air cooling, it delivers high efficiency, low energy consumption, and dust-free operation—ideal for furan, sodium silicate, and alkaline phenolic resin sand systems.

Working Principle:

Hot Sand Infeed: Reclaimed sand (80–200°C) enters from shakeout or vibratory conveyor.

Atomized Water Injection: Precision nozzles spray fine water mist onto the sand surface—evaporative cooling absorbs heat instantly.

Twin-Shaft Mixing: Two shafts rotate counter-directionally at different speeds (typically 1:1.3–1.5 ratio), with paddles creating 3D tumbling, shearing, and dispersion to break agglomerates and enhance heat transfer.

Forced-Air Ventilation: Ambient air is blown through the sand bed from bottom/side fans, carrying away vapor and residual heat.

Cooled Discharge: After 60–120 seconds, sand exits at stable 40–50°C with moisture controlled within ±0.2%, ready for buffer storage or direct feeding to mixers.
